What you will need/do
- Sculpey clay preferably 3 or 4 colours just to get the marble effect
- Pre heat the oven to 130 degrees
- A rolling pin
- A heatproof bowl
- Scissors
- Knife
So first off with your scissors, just cut 1 section of each of the sculpey clays. Then just roll each of them into thin little snake like things so they look like this.
Then what your going to do is just grab all the strips and twist them together like this. Then when they're all twisted up, twist that so all the colours combine.
Once all the colours have combined, fold it in half and twist. You can do this as many times as you want, depending on how strong you want your marble effect to be. If you want the marble effect being really marbly, then twist heaps. If you don't then only twist one or two times.
Then just squish it into a ball and carefully roll out with your rolling pin so it is quite thin and flat. After you've done that, grab your bowl and face it flat down on the clay. Get your knife and carefully cut around the clay so it gets a nice circle and cuts off the excess.
Place your clay into the heatproof bowl but press down on the bottom so it gets the kind of bowl effect of having the bottom circled. If you look carefully at the picture you can see the circled outline bit. Thats what your trying to do. After the clay is in a heatproof bowl place it into the oven for 15 minutes.
Really sorry about the quality of this picture but anyway. After it has been in the oven at 130 degrees it will still feel really squishy and it won't feel like it has done anything. Don't worry. Let it cool for about 15-20 minutes and it will feel hard. And there you have it, a very easy and affordable jewellery bowl that looks really cool!
I hope you enjoyed this really easy DIY and I hope you try it out! - Natalia xx
So cool I want to do a white and gold one!
